Postpartum Newborn Nursing Care (PNNC): a sub-division of the MNNC course.

Spring Session 2025 April-May Course: Live Instruction Days @ Marina Village Conference Center: May 13th (11:45am - 17:30pm) and May 20th (07:30am - 17:30pm). In addition: weekly On-Demand Video Narrated lessons for the duration of one month.

Program includes approximately 8 hours of weekly on-demand, self paced lessons for the duration of 4 weeks as well as the two above live instruction days. MUST ATTEND AND COMPLETE ALL.

The Postpartum Newborn Nursing Care (PNNC) course is a comprehensive program that prepares nurses for hire and preceptorship specifically into the postpartum and newborn setting. Taught by numerous leading perinatal experts in the community, this program is designed to bridge the gap between theory and actual clinical practice. Formerly part of Regional Perinatal System, this program has been well vetted over the years, and looked to as the standard for OB continuing education. Current, evidence-based guidelines and best practices are utilized to deliver course content in a meaningful, convenient, and practical manner.

The content includes a thorough review of anatomy and physiology, and focuses on the physiologic and pathophysiologic processes associated with perinatal and newborn care. Frequently encountered complications during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period are discussed, along with common nonpharmacologic strategies, medical procedures, and pharmacologic interventions. Nursing assessments, critical thinking, and prioritizing interventions are emphasized throughout the course.

This program specifically provides theoretical background to prepare nurses for mother-infant couplet care during the postpartum period. Assessment of newborn norms, procedures, high risk complications, and appropriate nursing interventions are outlined. Postpartum and newborn teaching protocols are based on principles of adult learning. In addition, this course addresses topics such as proper perinatal documentation, medico-legal aspects, culturally competent care, and high risk social behaviors as they relate to perinatal care.

Hybrid Instruction: A combination of "Live Instruction" sessions held at Marina Village Conference Center, as well as "On-Demand" self-paced courses.

I've been a nurse for 10 years, and during that time I obtained a wide variety in Med/Surg, Orthopedics, Outpatient, and Intensive Care settings. Over the past year, I've questioned whether or not the ICU was the best place to use MY own personal strengths to help others. May 2024, my husband and I endured what can simply be described as a life-altering and heartbreaking event, and that is: the premature birth and death of our second child, Jack, who was only 21 weeks of age. My personal experiences with difficult pregnancies and fetal demise shed light and clarity on what God was calling me to do next.
