Our highest risk newborns require the keenest nursing care possible. This course provides a basic and foundational breakdown of various newborn complications that can arise in not only term newborns, but also in late preterm (LPT) and preterm infants. We’ll discuss the pathophysiology, assessment, and management strategies for a number of potential complications, such as respiratory distress, thermoregulation, sepsis, necrotizing enterocolitis, meconium aspiration syndrome, intrauterine growth restriction, infants of diabetic mothers, jaundice in the newborn, amongst a variety of other high risk newborn conditions.
