Testimonials
We are grateful for the support of so many happy clients! Your feedback truly matters to us!
We're so grateful to be part of your journey through perinatal nursing.
I'm so grateful to have experienced this course, thank you everyone for making this experience so easy, straight forward and meaningful!
Thank you so much for everything, I have learned so much!! The director was excellent and very thorough as an educator and program coordinator! You clearly are an expert in your field. It was a pleasure getting to learn from you all!
I loved everything that this class had to offer! I learned so much and feel so much more confident after participating in the course. I am currently in my preceptorship in L&D, my preceptor remarked on how much I had learned throughout the last few weeks and I told her it was all due to this class. I enjoyed every one of the lessons and felt as though I was well equipped with many resources to succeed.
While many anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and basic labor concepts (e.g., the 5 P’s) were covered in nursing school, this course reinforced those foundations while providing a deeper perspective. I especially appreciated the emphasis on assisting in a normal physiologic birth and the critical role of nursing interventions.
The perinatal loss story was very impactful. It was great to hear the online social worker perspective and then a nursing and patient perspective. Can't express my gratitude enough. Great job!
Having part of this program online was key in my ability to complete it. I would not have been able to come if all sections were in person as I work full time on nights and also have a part-time day position one day a week. Thank you for providing this option.
The lectures from the social work perspective stood out to me as well. With the growing emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration in nursing education, I found it valuable to better understand the roles of other specialties within the hospital. The in-person lectures and hands-on skills practice were also instrumental in reinforcing my understanding.
I loved being able to pause the online videos and resume them later, and I also found myself rewinding to listen to areas twice or even three times. This is a great feature and something you can’t do on zoom or in person.
I loved how informative Fetal Monitoring was! Also the Vac-Forceps lecture and Precip Birth. The instructor truly knew what she was talking about and helped conceptualize things even more than was necessary for the test, but that helped my real-life, bedside knowledge and made the tests even easier. I also loved the newborn instructor. Her candid attitude about L&D vs postpartum was very refreshing, since I feel that postpartum is sort of undervalued and seen as "less nursing" from the RN community even though they are quite literally the last educators to moms/families before those moms/families are officially on their own for the first time.
I just wanted to thank you for all of the beneficial information. I love your team. :)
I liked being tested on the material soon after taking each lesson. It was fresh in my brain and it solidified my learning. I also liked that we could retake the tests and quizzes online which helped me study for the cumulative test we did in person. Also being able to rewatch the online videos really helped me. Thank you for putting together such a well organized program. I’ll definitely be recommending it to my friends who want to work in labor and delivery.
I have no improvements to make on lessons, they were well explained and presented. I think the legal lessons and perinatal loss lessons were amazing and helpful, especially having spokespersons that could relate on the matters. It gave refreshed perspectives that I never realized I needed. Thank you for everything!
I found all the instructors to be highly knowledgeable in their respective areas, demonstrating true expertise in the field. Each speaker was timely, thorough, and open to questions while also taking the time to carefully demonstrate skills, making the learning experience engaging and effective. The online lessons were well executed and convenient for our schedules. Thank you again!
The most impactful lessons for me were on perinatal loss. They profoundly deepened my understanding of how to provide compassionate support—not only for families experiencing the loss of a child but also for those grieving the loss of their expected labor experience..
I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in OB nursing or looking to expand their knowledge in perinatal care. The course was well-structured, comprehensive, and exceptionally organized. I will absolutely be referencing the provided PDFs throughout my career. This experience has left me feeling well-prepared to interview for a perinatal nursing position, and I’m eager to apply what I’ve learned in a clinical setting. I especially appreciated the director’s enthusiasm, expertise, and advocacy for OB patients. Beyond providing evidence-based education, she emphasized the importance of achieving the best outcomes for both mother and baby—empowering us as nurses to play a crucial role in facilitating those outcomes.

All the cardiac lectures and the DIC lecture stood out to me. Especially with hypertensive crisis. I remember that being hard for me to understand in nursing school (I took that class 4 years ago). I understood it completely and it really helped me to feel confident in what was taught.
I think the postpartum lectures were most interesting to me because I had many of those complications that were talked about. Having the jada rep come to talk to us was so great and practicing with those skills was important, as I feel postpartum is an area that is lacking in education. I also traveled to countries through mission work and volunteered with HIV patients, so having the HIV in pregnancy lesson was interesting and something I can see myself doing in the future.
This course was worth every penny! I definitely think it’s worth more than I paid. I am truly grateful for all that I have learned. I’ll have these materials forever to look back on. Being new to San Diego it was nice to have met new friends who are also colleagues.
Some of my favorite lessons included The Labor Process, especially about maternal positioning and how much it can impact labor progression, and different breathing techniques to help coach patients. I also loved the Defending Your Practice lesson because it is not readily taught to nurses. I appreciated the added lessons and videos about racial disparities in maternal care. Overall I loved the course and felt like I could take this knowledge to the bedside as I continue to learn about perinatal nursing. Thank you to everyone for such an amazing course! Oh and I also loved how much we learned about breastfeeding!
The “Defending Your Practice At The Bedside: What Can I Do?” stood out because it shared specific obstetric examples and practical insights into documentation that benefit any nursing setting. I am incredibly grateful she explained the difference between BRN complaints and malpractice lawsuits. The“Breastfeeding and Newborn Nutrition” lesson was easy to understand. This week, I utilized her positioning and latching tips to assist patients with breastfeeding at clinical. I also appreciate her showing us the SNS tools, which helped me assist the patients. The“Basic EFM" & the "Operative Delivery” lectures were informative because she shared her history and personal experience with them. She and all the instructors have shared clinical pearls that aren’t in textbooks. The MNNC director's explanations were clear and digestible. Although this course has a lot of content, she made things simple and easy to understand. During nursing school, I found it challenging to remember fetal positioning. However, after the first in-person session, when we were taught about the fetal denominator, I can now easily recall the vertex presentations. I appreciate the skills portion because it offers visual and tactile learning.Thank you to all the instructors who recorded them on Zoom or traveled to teach us in person.
Thank you to the MNNC director for making this a remarkable class! Your dedication shows! We are all very fortunate to have you as our instructor. You address all of our concerns :) You care very much!
I thoroughly enjoyed this course and found it all so fascinating. I think this is where I am meant to be in nursing. Thank you for everything and I truly appreciate how organized this whole course was. It is executed wonderfully.
I’m grateful to have been taught by some of the best. The different learning styles pushed me to understand Maternal Nursing on a deeper level. The information stuck and it didn’t feel like passive learning to just get a grade. It was active learning and I’m grateful.
Everything was in great detail. I really enjoyed the course. It was all very interesting and kept my attention. Thank you so much for teaching this course. I am so happy that I took it and was able to learn all this information. It makes me even more excited to see what the future holds.
I really think this course helped so much for me to become an L&D nurse. Can't thank you enough.
I thought the Medical Legal Considerations lecture was phenomenal! Truly thought provoking for my own practice and changes I would like to make to my documentation. Also, the in-person perinatal loss nurse was so brave...truly added another human connection piece to the course.
The breastfeeding lesson stood out to me because it reminded me why I want to go into L&D and/or Mother Baby. I got my first degree in nutrition and one of my classes was nutrition for pregnant and breastfeeding women. I thought the instructor had a lot to say and was very knowledgeable. She inspired me to eventually become a lactation consultant later in my career. This program was very interesting and I learned a lot. I am excited to start my journey in L&D and will use everything I learned in this program during my career.
The director was an incredible instructor and her presentations were engaging. The organization of the class and the content were well done and had great flow. I especially enjoyed the EFM lecture - it was very informative and applicable to my residency for labor and delivery. I liked the guest instructors as well - I feel as if everyone is truly passionate about what they do and it is very inspiring to see.
The director is an amazing instructor, very knowledgeable and easy to approach. It was very easy to follow through the on demand lessons and navigate the learning platform. I appreciated the flexibility of the on demand lessons since I work night shift and was able to watch the videos at any time.
I enjoyed all the lessons I learned from the MNNC over the past four weeks. After finishing the course, I feel more confident and competent in obstetric nursing. Throughout the on-demand and in-person lessons, I could make connections to the real patient situations I encountered during the OB clinical rotation and externship. I am a visual and kinesthetic learner, so having hands-on sessions during the in-person lessons was helpful. Some of the lessons that stood out to me were legal considerations, late preterm pregnancy, maternal loss, and perinatal loss. Although all the lessons were important, those lessons were not really touched on during nursing school, so I appreciated learning about them.
This course was really thorough in covering all aspects of the care of the perinatal patient from becoming pregnant through newborn care. It gave easy to understand detailed information on all of the complications that a patient might encounter and how to care for them. I feel much more confident in my care of the perinatal patients after taking this course; as I have been an RN for many years and recently made a transition in specialty; the hospital orientations just don't go nearly as in depth with education/training and I didn't feel fully prepared with my toolbelt of education in caring for these patients until I took this course.
I truly believe this course is priceless and absolutely vital for anybody interested in Labor and Delivery. I loved every minute of learning and felt that I was able to comprehend and understand the material due to the instructors’ teaching styles. The director of the MNNC program is incredibly organized and an absolute expert. I feel lucky to have been able to take this course and learn from such a passionate instructor. She takes the time to respond to all questions, and answers thoroughly while making sure the student understands. All of the instructors were wonderful, and I look forward to using this material in the future. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us and helping us succeed that much further into our dream jobs/goals. You all were very knowledgeable and so kind. The course itself was amazing and easy to navigate. The information you provided as well as teaching methods were on point. This course made me even more excited and determined to be in OB.
Everyone was so amazing. I think there was an overall great mix of expertise and everyone that taught during the program was very well educated and passionate about what they were teaching. This class has been a wonderful experience. I have already recommended it to several friends who are considering moving to maternal newborn care.
I just wanted to express how grateful I am that I was able to join this group. What a wonderful way to be prepped for joining a specialty field. I SO wish something similar was available when I started in the Emergency Department. I am so excited to begin to look into my journey in obstetric nursing. I am so aware of the difficulty to enter the specialty/lack of current job openings, but I take pride in the fact that even being in the ED, I will have more knowledge/be able to better serve our pregnant population. Thank you for dedicating yourself to educating and encouraging future nurses to do better in this field. It is such a breath of fresh air to see such a passionate and personable provider/nurse/instructors.
I really appreciated the legal lecture. As someone who is considering going into legal consulting later in my career, it was very inspiring. It also was a wake up call I needed to really bolster my confidence in my charting practices. This class really strengthened my passion to enhance my bedside manner and improve my practices as a nurse in connecting with my patients.
MNNC is amazing! Thank you for all that each and every single one of you for all that you are, and all that you do, and all that you GIVE in order to assure that the Mamas and Babies of the future are well-taken care of!
I absolutely loved this course!! So well thought out and structured. The director was very easy to contact and really facilitated an excellent learning environment!!
Personally, I felt like there were so many MNNC instructors that gave me a sense of “wow I want to be one of them one day”. I think the director does an impeccable job of engaging my attention, even on the first day with lecturing all the way through. I really enjoyed the lactation lecture, the energy of the lecturer kept me so engaged and empowered by the subject matter. I also think for really intensive concepts such as HTN disorders, preeclampsia and high risk pregnancy I was able to understand the critical thinking that connected to these subjects with way greater clarity then my previous knowledge because it was easily broken down. So many great speakers and you could just tell how much of a wealth of knowledge they have.
I think that for anyone that has a passion to pursue obstetrics this class is pure gold. I came out with more in depth learning from one month than I felt my entire semester of nursing school on informatics. I will definitely be printing and referencing the lectures along with current events of my patients. I have already referred others to take the class and know they are excited! Thank you for everything.
The MNNC director was fanstastic. Her lectures were so great and the easiest to follow. She is really great at teaching and had great lecture speed and engagement both online and in person.
The lesson on perinatal loss was beyond powerful. Her expansive knowledge on the topic of perinatal loss was truly one of a kind and I felt like I gained all the tools necessary to better support parents through the heartbreaking loss of a child.
All instructors showed their passion, support, and knowledge in this field, making learning the content that much more enjoyable!!! Thank you to everyone involved I loved this course and look forward to one day joining the OB team.
I’m blown away with the amount of knowledge I gained in just one month. Thank you for an amazing course and the opportunity to meet with and hear from so many different instructors.
Thank you for setting up some of this course online. I have a full-time job, and it was very convenient to do the online lessons from home after work, and on the weekends. The expectations were clear and easy to understand and I’m not even that computer savvy, so thanks for an easy set-up for online learning.
A lesson that stood out to me was the basic fetal monitoring lecture. The instructors presented the material in such a clear and understandable way, and I loved how they tied everything back to the underlying physiology/pathophysiology. Having done an externship in L&D, I was already familiar with basic fetal monitoring concepts, however, I never knew the actual mechanisms behind the patterns of decelerations. Overall, I just really appreciated the emphasis on not only the what, but the why and how of what we see, assess, implement, etc. in OB nursing!
This course was intensive, but jam packed with all the information we need to succeed as future maternal-newborn nurses. The instructors’ passion and expertise in this area of nursing was evident in their enthusiasm during lectures and the hands-on learning, as well as their openness to questions and sharing of advice. I have much more confidence in my general and OB specific nursing skills because of this course, and know that I will rely on this knowledge as I begin my career as a RN.
I thought the class was perfect! I especially loved the hands-on portion of the lectures. I enjoyed learning about newborn nursing care and what to assess with newborns. This is an area in clinicals that I have not had as much experience, so having that time was great. I enjoyed learning how best to care for these infants, including those that may be needing more attention. I also liked learning about substance abuse and perinatal mood disorders as these are also crucial topic areas that we should know as a perinatal nurse.
The organization between the online lessons followed by the in-person classes was so great. It was nice to know that the director was available all throughout the week during the online lessons that we were completing, and she answered our questions through the discussion board very promptly. The discussion board on the learning platform was really great, because sometimes I had a question but then realized someone else already asked it and the instructor already answered it. I liked this format where I could rewind lessons and watch portions of them again. It’s not something that can be done through Zoom, so I liked the video lessons a lot.
I've been a nurse for almost 5 years & I started my nursing career in PCU/Telemetry. I was first intimidated to take this course because I always hear that the L&D/mother/baby world is a different "beast," which I understand why now lol.. BUT after taking this course, I've gained SO much knowledge & grew more interest in this area of nursing. ALL the instructors are knowledgeable & experienced. Also, thank you for making this possible for working RNs - I've been thinking about completing this course/transitioning to OB for a year or two, but never got the ultimate push until I had my own baby last year & saw firsthand how impactful L&D/postpartum nurses are to moms & families.
I am so so appreciative of everyone that was able to teach us online and/or in person! I think I learned more here throughout these few weeks than I did in my entire mother/baby rotation in college, and I am so thankful for that. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable about their topics and seemed to really love what they do, which made me so hopeful to go into a career of mother/baby nursing. Thank you all so so much!!!
I cannot thank the MNNC director enough for being such an amazing instructor for this course and for being the program director. She was an amazing person to learn from. I appreciate all of the time and energy she put into teaching all of us, keeping things organized, and I look forward to hopefully learning from her again in the future!
I am incredibly grateful for the lesson provided on the last day of MNNC in-person regarding medical/legal considerations. This is not a topic that has been touched on previously throughout my undergraduate studies and although overwhelming, the notes provided will be a valuable resource to constantly have at my fingertips.
I enjoyed the hands-on learning with each of the instructors – the labor hands-on learning was crucial with the sterile vaginal exam devices, the fetal monitoring gadgets were great to get our hands on, the postpartum hemorrhage set-ups and supplies were great, as was our time with breastfeeding small groups and the newborn work. I think the hands-on learning was awesome, as being able to get up and move around and work in smaller groups really helps to keep our attention. Overall, a really great course and I’m so thankful to every single instructor, whether it be online instructor or in person instructor. Your passion really shows and it’s inspiring.
I was so thankful to the MNNC director for lecturing for hours on end in person and in the on-demand lectures. It is very difficult for me to concentrate for two hours of lecture, let alone 7-8 hours during our in-person days. However, I found myself immersed in the content and enjoying what I was learning. I can truly see and feel the dedication and commitment to the obstetrics field as I listened to her lecture!
Surprisingly, the lecture on breast feeding support stood out to me because I had not realized just how much of a toll breastfeeding problems takes on new mothers. Her lecture convinced me to look into lactation counseling as a potential segway when I am hopefully working in the specialty.
After almost missing this course, I am so thankful that I was able to attend. This course has made a significant difference in my nursing career as it finalized my passion to practice in the obstetric specialty. It has given me the medical and practical knowledge that will help me not only be a competent nurse, but to also consider the emotional and mental wellbeing of new mothers. Labor is one of the biggest life events for a woman, and it gives me comfort knowing that I have learned how to support these women better; by sitting on their level, making eye contact, and telling them exactly what they need to hear to calm their mind. In just one month, I feel transformed from an unsure nursing student, to one that has a set path and mind. Thank you for everything, SCCEd! I truly appreciate the time and effort of everyone who made this a possibility.
All the lessons were interesting and enhanced my knowledge. The lesson that stood out to me was "Bleeding Disorders" as I could relate to a lot of personal experiences and really understand the "why". 5 Star course, for sure!
I seriously had no idea how inspired I was about to become when I signed up for MNNC. It was so informative, well-organized, and the instructors were highly qualified to teach the topics. I feel much more confident applying for transition in practice positions in L+D and much more knowledgeable about women's health than I did when I graduated nursing school! Thank you, MNNC team!
I truly enjoyed this course I feel so much more knowledgeable in the area of obstetrics, and I am grateful to have access to the PDF's for review and future reference. Thank you to the director of MNNC, who is extremely knowledgeable - all of her lessons where relevant and practical to the specialty. The course was so well organized I loved it. A LOT of material but very interesting and executed perfectly. I am grateful I took this course with you, I will definitely recommend it.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the lectures, however, the one I found most engaging was the lesson on Hypertensive Disorders and Placental issues. I felt these lectures provided in-depth information about the disease processes, pathophysiology, clinical signs/symptoms, and interventions. The on-demand lesson about the postterm infant was exceptionally well done too. Regarding the in-person lectures, the explanation of the labor process was very well done, surpassing what I received in nursing school.
I really liked the on demand platform. Aside from flexibility, it allowed me to rewind and rewatch complex content that I needed to rehear. It also allowed me to take breaks between dense lectures. All the instructors did very well teaching, I especially loved how passionate each presenter was because it made each topic so much more interesting to learn about.
Hands down, the best course I have taken (and I've taken a lot of them over the years)!!! I can barely formulate the words to describe how inspired I am after completing the program. It was intense and really made me buckle down to get the work done - but I actually ENJOYED doing the lessons and looked forward to our long workshop days every week. I'm going to miss feeling inspired by the educators, but hope to one day be that person who is just as inspirational. Thank you, thank you!
The best fetal monitoring course I have ever been to, and I've been doing this for 19 years!
I thought I knew a lot about fetal monitoring until I took this course. But I had so many "ah-ha" moments from the beginning of the day to the end of the day. Well done, I'll never forget the difference between baroreceptors and chemoreceptors, and the why behind the fetal heart rate tracings. You are exceptional at what you do.
The online course was well structured and NOT boring! Most online classes are snoozers, but seriously I really enjoyed learning and felt like the instructor was right there teaching me. Having her on video was really great, versus just an AI generated boring voice. I'll be back for your fetal monitoring courses!
The director was a phenomenal and very engaging instructor who explained the content thoroughly and in an easy way to understand. The thorough fetal monitoring was especially helpful as fetal monitoring was always hard for me to understand. I especially enjoyed the hands-on learning portion of class, in-person lectures, and case studies. Thank you for an outstanding MNNC program!
